April Shopify Tech Partners Event: What E-commerce Stores Can Expect from Google Analytics 4

What better way to kick off Q2 2023 than with a Shopify Tech Partners Meetup? That’s we did last month, inviting old friends and new ones in London’s tech community down to Old Street and our offices for an evening of networking, drinks, snacks, and talks from some of the wisest minds in the space.

This month, in collaboration with Jack at TranslateCI, we hosted a talk from Edward Upton, Founder and CEO of Littledata, who spoke about Google Analytics 4. It’s the next generation of Analytics which collects event-based data from both websites and apps and, as Edward told us, it’s going to change the game.

Google’s updated analytics service lets users measure traffic and engagement across all their websites and apps, but as Ed told us, it isn't just that. In fact, GA4 is a major step forward. It gives you the power to collect and enrich first-party data like never before, linking user touchpoints across devices and browsers, and then gaining powerful insights into your business performance. GA4 also lets you act on your data easier than ever, translating your insights into Google Ads.

In other words, GA4 gives you enhanced reporting capabilities, more ways to get value from your marketing, and the means to accurately track the entire customer journey. It’s a key way to boost conversions. And you better start GA4 tracking soon, because, in July, Google Analytics’ universal analytics (UA) will stop processing new hits for good.
Edward has shared his slides with us also.

So we learned a bunch. And, as always, we had a great time catching up with everyone, sharing some knowledge and some industry gossip. Now the sun’s out and we’re looking forward to what the next few months have in store.

Thanks to everyone who came down to Old Street last week. Our next event will be on the 30th of May and you can find all details here.
Please get in touch with us with us if you'd like to be one of our guest speakers.

Until next time.
